Many believe Internet security awareness training will be the Next Big Thing in the corporate world, similar to sexual harassment and cultural diversity training that’s offered or mandatory in many companies today. Certainly how employees use the Internet has the potential affect the entire company and its network, and we all know an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Government – especially local government – often finds itself behind the curve and slow to adopt new standards, but the city of San Diego has stepped up to be the first community to implement security awareness messaging targeted at both businesses and consumers, through its Securing our eCity program. Is this a trend that will spread to other municipalities?
