When you open a file with an extension Windows doesn’t recognize, it asks if you want to use the web service to research the required software. However, if you are an advanced user, you probably don’t need this. To make it go directly to where you can select the desired program, add this registry hack:
Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
Value Name: InternetOpenWith
DWORD Value: 0 = hide web service, 1 = display web-service
