Stopping running services

Before you use stop a running service using the net stop command or Services MMC snap-in on a Windows computer, you should find out if any other services have a dependency on the service you want to stop. That’s because stopping a service will stop any dependent services too, and if any of these dependent services are needed in your environment then undesirable things might happen.

A quick way of listing any dependent services for service_name is to run the command sc enumdepend service_name from a command prompt.
