Symantec update crashes XP computers

Earlier this month, some computers running Windows XP experienced BSOD (“blue screen of death”) crashes after applying an antivirus update for Symantec Endpoint Protection.  The problem, according to Symantec, was an incompatibility issue in their Symantec Online Network for Advance Response (SONAR) definitions, which has since been fixed.
