TMG Firewall as Hosted Mode BranchCache Server

image Did you know that you could do that? Put your Hosted Mode BranchCache Server on the TMG firewall itself? While it’s not something you’d want to do at the main office, there’s no reason why not to give it a try at your branch offices, where BranchCache is designed to run.

While there is no integrated wizard to support this configuration, and there are steps you have to take to create the required protocols and/or Access Rules, the fact is that it works.

There’s one trick that you should be especially aware of, and that’s how to deal with the potential impact NIS might have on BranchCache performance. It is possible to disable NIS for traffic going to or coming from the Local Host Network.
