Tools can decrypt “ransomed” data

The bad news is that some companies have lost money, their data, or both due to malicious software that encrypts the victim’s files and then demands money in order to decrypt them. The good news is that now there are tools that can, in some cases at least, decrypt the information and restore your files, without giving in to the bad guys’ demands.

Kaspersky recently made one such utility available that can recover files encrypted by CoinVault ransomware, and Cisco has create a tool to do the same for data lost to TeslaCrypt.
