Troubleshooting BIOS flash problems

You flash the BIOS on a computer to update the BIOS and now it won’t start. What do you do?

A better question is, What should I have done first before flashing the BIOS on my computer?  Unfortunately it’s all too easy to flash the wrong update and end up accidentally zeroing your machine’s BIOS.  To prevent the frustration and waste of time that can result from such mistakes, or to recover from a scenario where your BIOS is trashed and you can’t get it to work again, check out http://biosman.com.  You can order replacement BIOS chips from them, and if your computer is important to you it’s a good idea to purchase a replacement BIOS before you attempt to flash the existing one on your machine—just in case!
