Troubleshooting error 0x800f081e

Problem: You are trying to build an image for deploying Windows 7 Professional. You’ve built the image using the English language version of the product, sysprepped the image, and captured the image as a WIM file. You then try to inject a language pack LP.cab file using the DISM command, but you get error 0x800f081e along with the message “The specified package is not applicable to this image.” What went wrong?

Resolution: The problem is likely incompatible editions. In other words, you probably tried to add an Enterprise or Ultimate language pack to a Professional image of Windows 7. You must add language packs of the same edition as the image you are building.
