Troubleshooting: Laptop wakes when not in use

Your Windows 7 laptop wakes from hibernation when it’s in its carrying case and not being used. This causes it to overheat and cause problems.  What might be causing this?

Possible cause: You have wake from hibernation enabled in your system BIOS, and a scheduled task has the “Wake the computer to run this task” setting enabled on the Conditions tab of the task.

Resolution: If possible, disable the “Wake the computer to run this task” setting on the Conditions tab of all scheduled tasks.  You can also try disabling the “Allow wake timers” setting under Sleep on the Advanced Settings tab of Power Options in Control Panel.  Finally, if all else fails try disabling wake from hibernation in your system BIOS.
