Undercover hacking tool disguised as power strip

As if we in the IT security field didn’t already have enough to be paranoid about, now we have to worry about whether our power strips are out to get us. If a new heavy duty power strip/surge protector shows up in the server room or elsewhere around the office this fall, you might want to check out who put it there and examine it very closely. The Power Pwn looks like an ordinary power module but this one costs $1295 and for good reason: It’s actually a sophisticated enterprise-level hacking tool that can receive instructions remotely via a built-in 3G radio. It’s a new product that doesn’t ship until September, so you have time to be on the lookout for it.
