A Windows application which emulates a USB drive and attracts malware that spreads via USB storage devices can help users restrict the spreading of malware in their environment. The application is called Ghost USB Honeypot and it all started as a University project but there are plans to continue its development and support for current operating systems such as 64-bit versions of Windows 7. The Honeypot project which is a not-for-profit research center develops open source security tools amongst other activities in the fight against malware and hacking attacks.
