One of the new features of Citrix XenDesktop 5 was Machine Creations Services (MCS). For more information about MCS, check out Daniel Feller’s MCS series. Using MCS with XenDesktop on XenServer is covered in several documents. To understand MCS for vSphere, Andy Paul has written a technical deep-dive on the subject. The article summarizes the underlying architecture and impact of using Machine Creation Services in a pilot environment. The scope of the article is to help understand and manage the virtual machines created by MCS as well as understanding the storage requirements when using MCS.
