If you’re running vCenter 5.1 and haven’t updated to vCenter 5.1U1, that’s ok. Your existing vCenter 5.1 system can manage vSphere 5.1U1. On the database front, vCenter 5.1U1 is the first version of vCenter that fully supports SQL Server 2012 as a target for the vCenter database and Windows Server 2012 as the underlying operating system. vCenter 5.1U1 also supports SQL Server 2008 R2.
vCenter Server now supports customization of the following guest operating systems:
- Windows 8
- Windows Server 2012
- Ubuntu12.04, RHEL 5.9
If you’re running VMware Horizon View 5.1 or earlier, don’t upgrade the underlying hypervisor. Only VMware Horizon View 5.2 and above support vSphere 5.1U1.
