Wireless mobile phone repeaters hacked by security experts

Verizon’s Femtocells, which act as signal repeaters to boost wireless signals indoors for home users were used by two security researchers to demonstrate eavesdropping on text messages, photos and phone calls made with Android phones and iPhones.

Verizon said it has updated the software on its signal-boosting devices, known as femtocells or network extenders, to prevent hackers from copying the technique of the two experts.
