There are multiple paths to get to the Dial-Up Networking Window:
Via the Control-Panel using the icon “Network and Dial-up Connections“ | |
Via the Start-Menu “Settings“, then “Network and Dial-up Connections“ | |
via your desktop icon “My Network Places“, then the link to “Network and Dial-up Connections“. |
As instructed , select to “Make a New Connection” | |
This starts up the “Network Connection Wizard”. Continue with “Next”

This Wizard takes care about all different kind of connections (incoming and outgoing, via modem or direct-cable-connection) In this example, I like to connect to the Internet, selecting: “Dial up to the Internet” | |
I am connecting via Modem using a Phone-line | |
Step 1 of 3: Internet access connection information The access number (in this example for CompuServe in Brussels) | |
Step 2 of 3 : Internet account logon information The User-Identification and Password, as assigned by the Internet provider | |
Step 3 of 3 : Configuring your computer Lets define a name of the Connection | |
Screen : Complete Configuration Done ! Continue with “Finish” |
However: most Internet connections require some additional configuration,
before you are able to make your first connection to the Internet.
