A new variety of Facebook malware to ring in the new year

Facebook and other social networks are known to be targets for malware distributors. Some companies address this by prohibiting the use of social networking sites on company computers, but more and more businesses have incorporated social networking into their business strategies. If your employees participate on social networks, you need to make them aware of the risks and how to avoid them.

Many veteran FB users know to stay away from apps, but here’s a new wrinkle: links inside of FB chat messages that point to a picture and offer a “View Picture” button – which triggers a malware download. Some users will be tricked by this one, thinking that simply viewing a picture isn’t a dangerous act. Find out more here:
