Today I was working with a customer who was getting errors next to his host initiators on an EMC VNX storage array. They were the little yellow warning signs that usually indicate a server has not been added to a storage group yet (after it’s been registered). However, in this case, the servers had been added to a storage group.
Most likely my customer had added the server to the storage group before he had registered all of the host initiators for the server. This is a really easy fix. As long as your server isn’t in production (or you’ve scheduled downtime) you can go to the properties of the storage group and pull that server out. Apply the changes and then put the server back in and apply those changes. Now when you go back to the initiators you will see the errors are gone and have been replaced my lovely green check marks.
