Microsoft released Office 2010 to the public last month, and there has been plenty of talk about new features such as the Outlook social connectors, BackStage view, the customizable Ribbon, and more. Some things we haven’t heard as much about are the new security features. These include the message bar alerts that help protect you from those who exploit active content (ActiveX, add-ins, macros, etc.) and allow you to view potentially dangerous files in protected view, where most of the features are disabled. Other security mechanisms include File Block, and Data Execution Prevention (DEP). You can configure security and privacy features through the Trust Center.
