TMG Beta 2 Firewalls Ready for Virtualization and Cloud Computing Prime Time
Virtualization and Cloud Computing are hot topics, and getting hotter all the time. Can you virtualize a TMG Beta 2 firewall? You bet! Whether or not this is a good idea from a security point of view is an altogether different question. But if you just want to know if its supported, the good news is that it is. Its supported not only for testing and evaluation, its supported in production environments. Just check out the blog post from David Cross on the TMG firewall Team site over at https://blogs.technet.com/isablog/archive/2009/02/27/forefront-tmg-beta-2-virtualization-ready.aspx
And speaking of cloud computing, our next step is to think about how we can deploy TMG firewalls to support cloud models. If you're not into cloud computing yet, you should start reading up on it -- in the not too distant future, much of what we do will use the cloud computing model, for better or worse. There are some definite advantages to the cloud computing model, and there are some ways we can deploy TMG firewalls to provide security for our users, regardless of their location.
