A report that was recently released by Menlo Security is based on the scanning of over a million URLs that found one out of three have a significant element of risk, with one out of five running software that is vulnerable to compromise. Many of these sites include businesses in the fields of health, transportation, and computers/technology – all of which are likely to deal with sensitive information. These are mainstream, trusted sites, with one in twenty actually serving malware or spam or acting as part of a botnet.
