Demo: Using AppLocker in Windows 7

AppLocker is a great new feature in Windows 7 Enterprise and Ultimate editions, by which you can control which applications are allowed to run on the computers in your organization. Sound a lot like Software Restriction Policies?  Well, yes – and no. SRP was introduced in XP and Server 2003, but it was used by many admins, in large part because of the difficulty and time involved in setting it up and maintaining it. AppLocker makes some big improvements on SRP, especially in the usability department. Creating a whitelist of authorized applications is now quick and easy.

So if you’ve been shying away from AppLocker because of SRP PTSD, it’s time to check it out. This TechNet Edge video provides an overview of the feature and a demonstration of how to use it.
