A few weeks ago Microsoft announced that it would allow SQL to be loaded on Linux which came as quite a surprise to a lot of us, though most people agree it’s a smart move. In another surprising move, at least to me today, was that Microsoft announced a partnership with Ubuntu in that it would allow BASH on Windows 10 OSs natively.
Again, this is not a VM or simulator, but actual binaries running Ubuntu bash on Windows 10. So, familliar commands like grep and vi will be possible to use. It will even be possible to use apt-get to download and install binaries on your computer. It seems Microsoft is embracing the agility of Linux, which is pretty darn cool.
