Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) cleans up major botnet

Botnets are one of the most important threats to computers and networks, because such vast numbers of machines can be infected and then controlled by the bad guys to launch attacks. The latest version of the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT), which is updated regularly, has declared war on the Zbot botnet, which is one of the largest “gangs” of infected computers in the world. The MSRT is reported to have removed the infection from around 280,000 computers within just a few days after release. That means approximately one out of every five computers that have run the new version of the tool had the botnet malware installed. Read more here:
