PNY TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES NEW 2GB PERFORMANCE MEMORY KITS FOR EXTREME GAMING AND PERFORMANCE ENTHUSIASTS

LAS VEGAS – JANUARY 08, 2007 – PNY Technologies® Inc. announced today at CES 2007 upcoming availability of its new XLR8TM 2GB memory kits boasting speeds and latencies that exceed industry standard specifications. Each 2GB memory kit contains two matched 1GB modules, each fitted with PNY’s new proprietary heat sink design.

PNY Technologies’ XLR8 Gold memory modules incorporate an innovative PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design that locates all the memory ICs on one side of the board. This configuration allows for the opposite side of the PCB to be used to attach a massive heat sink that extracts heat from the underside of the ICs through a custom expanded ground plane. Additionally, PNY Technologies’ XLR8 Blue memory uses a similar custom heat sink design that has been adapted for standard two-sided memory modules. Both of these heat sink designs provide superior heat extraction for enhanced reliability and endurance under the high-stress conditions that enthusiasts and overclockers subject their equipment to.

All XLR8 models are currently going through the NVIDIA® SLI™-Ready certification process in PNY’s new internal SLI testing lab, established in partnership with NVIDIA. The NVIDIA SLI certification process puts each module through a rigorous set of diagnostic tests including benchmarking, continuous burn-in, and SLI motherboard and graphics card interoperability. Moreover, Enhanced Performance Profiles (EPP) are programmed into these modules to provide high performance settings with simplified installation and configuration. NVIDIA SLI certified motherboards that are compatible with EPP can automatically use faster memory timings when the EPP feature of the motherboard is enabled. PNY’s certified XLR8 memory modules become part of the complete NVIDIA SLI ecosystem and are the perfect addition to any SLI PC.

“Our new XLR8 performance memory modules feature both higher-than-standard frequencies as well as extra low latencies. When coupled with PNY’s new heat sink design, the increased cooling capacity allows users to experience the highest level of speed and responsiveness under the most demanding PC applications such as gaming, file compression, and video editing,” said Dan Altana, memory product manager for PNY Technologies. “The XLR8 modules offer PNY customers a new option to choose the best model of PNY memory based on their performance expectations, PC specifications and budget.”

All XLR8 memory modules are tested to perform at their rated speeds and timings using a selective qualification process reserved exclusively for XLR8 memory. PNY’s new XLR8 Extra Low Latency Performance Memory includes:

  • 800 MHz PC2-6400 – Modules perform at latency settings of 4-4-4-12 at 2.1 volts.
    MSRP $329.99
  • 800 MHz PC2-6400 – Modules perform at latency settings of 3-4-4-8 at 2.2 volts.
    MSRP $499.99
  • 1066 MHz PC2-8500 – Modules perform at latency settings of 5-5-5-15 at 2.2 volts.
    MSRP $429.99

The modules, available in March through PNY’s worldwide network of reseller, distribution, retail and e-tail partners, also include the company’s lifetime replacement warranty and technical support.

I bet these memory modules can be effectively used for small servers in SOHO market.
