According to McAfee several organizations in different sectors have been hit by the largest ever series of spear-phish cyber-attacks. The attacks which started in 2006 were intended to steal intellectual property from western-based companies which may represent a major economic threat to the western world. After 5 years of intelligence gathering, McAfee results point to China as the source of these attacks but the Chinese government denied these accusations.
Whether this is commercial espionage or not, these bad guys were illegally residing at a foreign entity and stealing information for 5 long years and they may be still doing it according to McAfee. This is the real cyber warfare we talk about and I guess this one out of many battles has been won by the bad guys!
