[London, UK –June 10 2014] Today, email archive migration vendor, TransVault, has released version 6.5 of its industry-leading migration software, TransVault Migrator, which features a new, high-speed, high-reliability connector for Symantec customers choosing to move their email records.
Whether simply updating their existing archive, or switching to a cloud-based service, organizations want to complete their data migration in the fastest possible times as it minimizes impact and cost to the business.
According to TransVault product manager, Steve Dagless, vendors promising the highest speeds could in fact lose some of your data. ‘With speed comes inevitable compromise on the accuracy and integrity of results. We would never risk losing even one of our customer’s email records just to complete a migration a little quicker, as this could jeopardize a future litigation case.’
TransVault was the first migration vendor certified by Symantec to connect into the Enterprise Vault solution using its application programming interface (API), this being the only Symantec-approved route for accessing its industry-leading archive.
However, customers using TransVault to upgrade Enterprise Vault or switch to cloud archives, would often choose to side-step the API for the sake of speed.
Explained Dagless, ‘Our direct connector could be up to ten times faster than using the API, but it came with a health warning as it was possible to miss out data only accessible via the API.’
TransVault’s new hybrid connector gives customers the best of both worlds by combining direct and API connectivity with automatic failover: If for any reason the direct connector fails to retrieve an item, the API connector kicks in to ensure nothing gets lost.
Concluded Dagless, ‘This is a unique service, which together with our detailed checks, auditing and chain-of-custody assurance, means customers can prove that their migration has been complete – both to their own legal department and to an external body. Plus, importantly, there’s no compromise on speed.’
