Recently VMware announced they would be adding Linux desktops to their VDI portfolio, which I can only assume will remain named Horizon View. All I can say is that it’s about time. Almost four years ago I was struggling with this as a systems admin at a software company. All of the developers wanted to use Linux, but we didn’t want to manage them as local operating systems. We tried deploying Ubuntu using VMware Workstation but that became even more problematic than just managing them as local OSs.
