TROUBLESHOOTING: Bootmgr Is Missing

PROBLEM: You start your Windows 7 computer and get the message Bootmgr Is Missing. What can you do?

RESOLUTION: Your Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store may be missing or corrupt. Try booting into the Windows Recovery Environment and using the Bootrec.exe utility to rebuild the BCD. If the Windows RE is not available on your computers hard drive, boot your computer directly from your Windows 7 installation media and select the Repair Your Computer option when it appears. Select the operating system that you want to repair, click Command Prompt in the System Recovery Options dialog, and type the following command:

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Then proceed as prompted to select the Windows installations that you want to add to your BDC store.
