Apple downplays Masque risk

Security researcher company FireEye issued a warning to users of iOS devices that there is a vulnerability in the mobile OS that attackers can exploit to trick users into installing fake apps, and through those apps gain access to their personal information. They called it the Masque attack because the apps appear to be legitimate ones, such as Gmail.

Apple says iOS has built-in security safeguards to warn customers before they install potentially malicious software, but many iPhone and iPad users jailbreak their devices, and could still be vulnerable to the attackers.
