Temporarily disable hibernation for laptops

Laptop computers are often configured by default so that when you close their lid Windows goes into hibernation mode.  But sometimes this may be inconvenient.  For example, if you have several meetings in a row, then you may want Windows to stay running when you close the lid so your network and Bluetooth connections aren’t terminated while you switch rooms for your next meeting.

To temporarily disable hibernation on the machine, run the powercf –h off command and then shut the lid and Windows will remain running.  Then when you open the lid at your final meeting of the day, run powercf –h on to re-enable hibernation.  You can create shortcuts on your desktop that will run these commands.
