According to some statistics as reported in this article in Bitdefender’s site, the number of records that were compromised in data breaches more than doubled over the past year. Ouch. The cost is going up, as well.
Even worse in some ways, big businesses’ efforts to comply with regulations aimed at protecting their data has had unintended consequences: breaches are getting more personal, and posing more than just monetary threats. Recent breaches are exposing information about the most intimate aspects of people’s lives.
