There is a vast wealth of knowledged locked up in the heads of most IT security professionals – but many of us tend to be introverted; we prefer to spend our time with computers instead of people. That means all that knowledge doesn’t get shared, and that is a shame on several levels.
Getting more involved in the security community can benefit others who learn from you, help you to learn more, and put you in touch with others who might be able to assist you in climbing the career ladder. It’s a win/win/win situation.
