Troubleshooting a missing networking device error during deployment

Problem:

You’re trying to deploy Windows 7 image to a PC system using MDT.  When you finish walking through the Deployment Wizard, instead of the installation proceeding the following error is displayed:

A connection to the deployment share could not be made. The deployment will not proceed.

The following networking device did not have a driver installed.

PCI\VFN_8086&DEV_10EF&SUBSYS_80001025&REV_06

Binging DEV_10EF&SUBSYS_80001025&REV_06 indicates that the problem device is Intel 82578DM Gigabit Network Connection.  What’s happening here is that the driver for this particular device is missing from your reference image.

Solution:

  1. Import the missing driver into your deployment share.
  2. Update the deployment share to regenerate your boot image.
  3. Restart the deployment.
